The Philip Roth Personal Library consists of two spaces, a public gallery and a reading room for researchers and scholars, which is accessible by appointment only.
The Philip Roth Inaugural Exhibition is on view at the gallery during regular library hours. An accompanying audio tour is available.

Public parking is available at the Edison parking lot on Central Avenue at Halsey Street and at the corner of Orange Street and at the lots on University Avenue near Broad Street Station.
Public Transportation: NJ Transit trains (Montclair-Boonton or Morris and Essex lines) run from NY Penn Station to Broad Street Station in Newark. PATH trains, Amtrak, and other NJ Transit lines run to Newark Penn Station where a connection can be made on the Newark Light Rail (Broad Street Line).

Charles F. Cummings NJ Information Center (CFCNJIC)
The CFCNJIC (New Jersey Room) is a research-level collection of materials relating to New Jersey, Essex County and Newark. It includes both historical and current information in these formats: books, newspapers, documents, pictures and archives.
James Brown African American Room (JBAAR)
James Brown dedicated his professional life to curating and expanding the Library’s collection of resources on the African American experience. The NJHRIC addresses the informational needs of the state’s diverse Hispanic communities, from the newly arrived monolingual immigrant to the English dominant scholarly researcher.
